Om Telolet Om in Japan

Recently we see the craze of "om telolet om" on the Internet social media. Goes viral and suddenly became trending topic around the world. For those who still don't know about "om telolet om", here is a brief introduction.

Om telolet om started in Central Java, Indonesia where groups of small kids stand by the side of the road, waiting for a bus to come. When the bus came and pass through the road, all the small kids will shout "om telolet om!" to the bus. Asking the bus driver to horn.

From here we know that om telolet om is basically a phrase to ask someone to horn. The word "om" means "Sir", and the world "telolet" is an onomatopoeia refers to the sound of the horn.

So how did it go viral? It seems that it got viral because famous world DJs started to wonder, tweeting and started to make remixes out of the melodic horn.

From what we have seen now, it seems that om telolet om has gone viral around the world, including Japan. Member of famous idol AKB48, Takahashi Manami also tweeted om telolet om. Another tweet can also be seen from Miki Nishino.

There is also a YouTube video of a girl in Japan getting excited waiting for a bus passing through the road with melodic horn.

Other than the current trends of om telolet om, it seems that Japanese people is familiar with the melody of the horn, even though the melody from each bus are different.
